The likelihood is that we have all suffered with some form of mental health challenges in our lives, whether we have realised it or not. Life has changed a lot in the past few years, with Covid-19 having a long lasting impact on our physical and mental wellbeing.
It is often easier to notice physical health concerns and address those, therefore pushing any mental health concerns to the side โ followed with a โI just need more sleepโ or โItโs been a stressful week at workโโฆ sound familiar?
So, what is put in place to raise awareness on this topic?
World Mental Health Day falls on the 10th of October every year, being defined by the World Health Organisation as
The overall objective of World Mental Health Day is to raise awareness of mental health issues around the world and to mobilize efforts in support of mental health.โ (WHO, 2022)1.
(Mental Health Foundation, 2022)2.
This years theme for World Mental Health Day is โMake mental health and wellbeing for all a global priorityโ. Currently, movements and continuous calls to local governments are being made in the hopes to spread more global awareness on mental health and how much of an impact it is making on peoples lives.
