Orthotics
Custom Orthotics
We take a very holistic approach to your care, and when we assess you to get to the root of your problem, we make sure we consider everything. Obviously, if you come to see us with foot and ankle pain such as plantar fasciitis or achilles tendon pain, then we’ll looking very closely at your feet. However, there are many other problems further up your body where foot issues can play a part.
If you’re suffering from shin pain, knee injuries, hip or groin pain we recommend checking out your feet to see if they may be part of the problem. We can carry out a computerised foot scan, that will show us exactly how your feet are working to support your body.
Orthotics are foot supports or insoles, that fit in your shoes to help your feet move and support you more efficiently. The aim of orthotics is to balance the foot into a neutral position. If it looks like your feet position may be part of the issue, we are able to prescribe custom orthotics which will help with your injury.

The Benefits Of Orthotics
Here at goPhysio we use a ‘Gaitscan’ system to measure and analyse how your feet work. The analysis is combined with a physical clinical assessment. Your Physio will look at your feet and legs, analyse your movement, measure your foot position and put all this together in the bigger picture with your symptoms & lifestyle.
This huge amount of information will enable them to prescribe the best custom orthotic for you and your lifestyle. Orthotics improve foot efficiency, helping improve lower limb alignment and reduce stress on the problem area, resulting in;
- Relieve your pain
- More comfort
- Move more efficiently
- Resolve ongoing or recurrent injries
- Customised just for you
Frequently Asked Questions
There have been many changes with the way health insurance companies cover physiotherapy recently. Subsequently, we require all patients to pay for their physiotherapy appointements up front per appointment. We will provide you with a printed receipt which includes your Physiotherapist’s HCPC number, which you can then provide to your individual insurance company. Depending on your individual policy, you may be able to reclaim some or all of your fees. Policies and cover varies widely now and we are unable to accept any responsibility for the amount you may be able to recaim from your insurance company. You will be responsible for any shortfall.
If you are looking to claim back your fees through your health insurance company, please do let us know, as not all our Clinicains are recognised by health insurance.
We understand that sometimes things come up, however we would appreciate as much notice as possible if you are unable to attend your appointment. We just ask that you give us a minimum of 24 hrs notice of any changes to your appointment so that we can re-allocate the appointment. Less than 24 hours notice will result in a charge. Appointment slots are very valuable and without adequate notice that appointment can’t be used for another patient. We send out both text message & email appointment reminders to help you remember your appointment time.
Please just give us a call or drop us an email if you’d like to change your appointment.
