Custom Orthotics & Gaitscan Chandler’s Ford

Custom Orthotics in Chandler’s Ford

Custom orthotics can help when the way your feet move and distribute pressure contributes to pain, recurring injury or difficulty with walking, running or everyday activity. At goPhysio in Chandler’s Ford, we combine a detailed clinical assessment with GaitScan computerised foot-pressure analysis to understand how your feet and lower limbs are working.

Importantly, we do not prescribe orthotics from a scan alone. Your clinician will consider your symptoms, movement, footwear, activities and goals before deciding whether custom orthotics are likely to help. Custom orthotics may be considered for problems such as:

  • Foot and heel pain, including plantar heel pain and plantar fasciitis
  • Achilles and lower-leg problems
  • Recurring ankle, knee or lower-limb pain where foot mechanics may be contributing
  • Running and sports related injuries
  • Uneven loading or excessive foot movement
  • Symptoms that persist despite appropriate rehabilitation or footwear changes

If orthotics are not the right solution for you, we’ll tell you.

What Happens During a Gaitscan Assessment?

Your appointment is much more than walking across a scanner. Your clinician will:

  1. Discuss your symptoms, previous injuries, activities and goals.
  2. Assess your feet, lower limbs, movement and relevant strength or mobility.
  3. Use Gaitscan to analyse how pressure moves through your feet while standing and walking.
  4. Consider the footwear in which you would use orthotics.
  5. Explain whether custom orthotics, standard insoles, footwear advice, treatment or rehabilitation would be most appropriate.

The scan provides useful information, but it is always interpreted alongside your physical assessment and symptoms.

There is no obligation to purchase orthotics following your assessment. We will only recommend them when we believe they are clinically appropriate.

Why Choose goPhysio for Custom Orthotics?

Clinician-led, not scan-led – Your Gaitscan results are combined with a full clinical assessment. We consider your symptoms, movement, footwear and goals rather than relying on a computer report alone.

Designed around your life – Your orthotics are prescribed for the activities and footwear that matter to you, whether that is everyday walking, work, running or sport.

Fitting and follow-up included – Your care does not end when the orthotics arrive. We check them against your prescription, fit them to your footwear and arrange a review approximately 6 – 8 weeks later.

Part of your wider recovery – Where appropriate, we combine orthotics with physiotherapy, rehabilitation, strengthening and activity advice.

Local and convenient – Appointments take place at our Chandler’s Ford clinic, convenient for Eastleigh, Southampton, Winchester and the surrounding Hampshire area. No GP referral is required.

FAQS

Custom orthotics may be considered when foot position, movement or pressure distribution is contributing to symptoms such as heel pain, plantar fasciitis, recurring foot or ankle pain, Achilles pain, running injuries or some knee and leg problems. Not everyone needs orthotics. Your clinician will assess your symptoms, movement, footwear and activity goals before recommending the most appropriate option.
Your 30-minute appointment includes a clinical assessment of your feet and lower limbs together with a computerised Gaitscan pressure analysis. Your clinician will consider your symptoms, movement, footwear and activities before explaining whether custom orthotics, rehabilitation, footwear advice or another approach would be most appropriate. The scan is not used in isolation. If you are already having treatment at goPhysio, the Gaitscan assessment may be done as part of an appointment.
A Gaitscan assessment costs £69. When custom orthotics are recommended and ordered, the assessment is included within the £535 custom orthotics package. The package includes: Your clinical assessment and Gaitscan; One pair of custom-made orthotics; A fitting appointment; Guidance on introducing them gradually; A review approximately 6–8 weeks after fitting; Settling-in support; A lifetime warranty on the orthotic shell. There is no obligation to order orthotics after your assessment.
Shop-bought insoles are made in standard shapes and sizes. Custom orthotics are individually manufactured to a clinical prescription based on your assessment, symptoms, foot-pressure scan, movement, activities and footwear. A standard insole may be sufficient for some people. We will recommend custom orthotics only when we believe the additional support and individual prescription are clinically appropriate.
The hard orthotic shell comes with a lifetime warranty against factory defects, breakage or cracking. The softer top cover is a wearable component and may gradually need replacing depending on your footwear, activity levels and frequency of use. Your package includes a settling-in period and a review at approximately 6–8 weeks. Please contact us sooner if you experience pain, rubbing or difficulty wearing your orthotics. After the included settling-in period, recovers, reassessments and further adjustments are charged separately, with all costs explained before proceeding.
