Chair Pilates in Chandlers Ford

What is Chair Pilates?

Staying strong, steady and independent matters at every age, and Chair Pilates is one of the most accessible ways to work on it. Using a chair for support, you can build strength, balance and mobility while seated or standing nearby, without ever needing to get down onto the floor. Our friendly, small-group Chair Pilates classes in Chandlerโ€™s Ford and Ampfield can help you improve your:

  • Strength and stability
  • Balance and confidence
  • Mobility and flexibility
  • Posture and body awareness
  • Ability to keep doing everyday activities independently

You do not need any previous Pilates experience. Your instructor will explain each exercise clearly, provide alternatives where needed and help you work at a pace that feels right for you.

Why Choose

goPhysio

Donโ€™t just take our word for it, we have hundreds of happy patients willing to share their thoughts on their goPhysio experiences.

Following an accident in 2018 I have been supported and helped by the staff at goPhysio and through them have kept mobile. If it was not for their help I would now be in a care home and have a very restricted miserable life.

Who is Chair Pilates for?

A welcoming class adapted to your starting point

Chair Pilates may be right for you if you:

  • Find it difficult to get down onto or up from the floor
  • Feel stiff, less mobile or less confident with exercise
  • Would like to improve your balance
  • Are returning to activity after an illness, injury or period of inactivity
  • Want a gentle but effective way to build strength
  • Prefer a small, sociable class with individual support
  • Want to remain active and independent as you get older

Many exercises are completed while seated, with the chair also used to provide support and stability during suitable standing exercises. You can work at your own level, and exercises can be adapted to suit your mobility and confidence.

Chair Pilates or Positive Steps? Both classes provide a friendly, supportive way to stay active, but they offer slightly different styles of exercise.

  • Chair Pilates focuses on controlled Pilates movements, posture, core strength, mobility and balance, with the chair used for support.
  • Positive Steps uses a wider variety of strength, balance and fitness exercises, often in a circuit-style format.

If you are unsure which class would suit you best, our team will be happy to help. Some people enjoy doing both!
