More About Back Pain

Back pain is very common, it affects up to 80% of us at some point in our lives, with almost 10 million people in the UK suffering with lower back pain each year.

It can be quite a scary experience, especially when it comes on suddenly and is quite an intense pain. If youโ€™ve got back pain, itโ€™s not easy to uncover the cause, know what you should be doing to relieve it and understand how to get better.

Thatโ€™s when we can help. At goPhysio we see dozens of people every month who come in with quite severe pain in their back. Often this has come on suddenly without any warning or it may have gradually worsened over time. In the majority of cases, back pain isnโ€™t anything too serious and when handled in the right way will resolve really quickly.

Getting an accurate assessment, the right treatment and having a plan where youโ€™re supported to get you active and back to full fitness, as soon as possible, is the best approach.

We see and help a range of issues around the back, including:

  • Sciatica
  • Postural issues
  • Pregnancy related back pain
  • Pre-hab before spinal surgery
  • Rehab following spinal surgery
  • Work related back pain
  • Back strains

Very efficient staff. My back pain treatment through physiotherapy was 100% successful within 3 weeks after having endured this disability for decades. My physiotherapist was clear in his explanations and diagnosis and there was total professionalism which gave me confidence in getting better. Physiotherapy was followed by weekly pilates which is conducted in small groups with a high degree of care and attention. Thank you.

Wear something comfortable and appropriate for the area of your injury to be assessed thoroughly e.g. shorts for a knee injury. Your modesty will be respected at all times.
Payment is due at the end of every appointment. Our preferred method of payment is by card but we can also take payment online securely via Stripe. We can email over a copy of your receipt if you need it. We do not work directly with any private medical insurance companies. Depending on your policy, you may be able to claim back your fees. We advise that you check the full details of your policy prior to booking an appointment.

There have been many changes with the way health insurance companies cover physiotherapy recently. Subsequently, we require all patients to pay for their physiotherapy appointements up front per appointment. We will provide you with a printed receipt which includes your Physiotherapistโ€™s HCPC number, which you can then provide to your individual insurance company. Depending on your individual policy, you may be able to reclaim some or all of your fees. Policies and cover varies widely now and we are unable to accept any responsibility for the amount you may be able to recaim from your insurance company. You will be responsible for any shortfall.

If you are looking to claim back your fees through your health insurance company, please do let us know, as not all our Clinicains are recognised by health insurance.

We understand that sometimes things come up, however we would appreciate as much notice as possible if you are unable to attend your appointment. We just ask that you give us a minimum of 24 hrs notice of any changes to your appointment so that we can re-allocate the appointment. Less than 24 hours notice will result in a charge. Appointment slots are very valuable and without adequate notice that appointment canโ€™t be used for another patient. We send out both text message & email appointment reminders to help you remember your appointment time.

Please just give us a call or drop us an email if youโ€™d like to change your appointment.

Not really, just yourself! However, if you have had any tests or investigations related to your problem (like a scan or X Ray), it can be helpful to bring these along. If you are being assessed for an injury which uses some equipment, it may be useful to bring this along e.g. running footwear.
