International Women’s Day. Itโs a day about celebrating womenโs achievements, raising awareness about discrimination and taking action to drive gender parity. Weโre thankful here at goPhysio to have so many wonderful women working at the clinic, who all do an incredible job with patients and colleagues alike. International Womenโs Day has occurred for well over a century, with the first IWD gathering in 1911 supported by over a million people. Today, IWD belongs to all groups collectively everywhere. IWD id not country, group or organisation specific.ย
We asked the team of any female figures in their lives who inspire them, whether it be family, friends or those in the public eye. Have a read to see who they came up with.
โMy Mum is an absolute inspiration. She is always so positive, even in the face of adversity and life’s challenges. Her positivity and resilience is infectious, she just cracks on!ย She will always go out of her way to help others and will never say no (even though she should!).โ
โThe most inspiring woman in my life is my granโ
โMy mum –ย Through determination and support she completed a degree and is constantly progressing her career regardless of how hard it was along the way all whilst raising me along with the help from my grandparents. She has always been supportive and taughtย me to always do my best, be strong and independent, and treat others the way I want to be treated.โ
โShirley Valentine, I know it is just a fictional character but just find her inspiring. She walked away from her marriage to do something she wanted to do after being a slave to the housework, she just wanted to be herself and she went off and did it, to make herself feel better.โ
โAdmittedly sheโs not the only inspiring woman in my life but singer songwriter Raye feels like โwoman of the momentโ. Winning a whopping 6 BRIT Awards this month, and having such huge success in the last 12 months due to sticking by her guns, saying No when she felt uncomfortable and taking the risk to go out on her own as an independent artist! Shows hard work, determination and true grit to believe youโre better than the situation youโre currently in. Itโs certainly paid off. Go RAYE!โ
