Versus Arthritis have launched some fantastic new resources for people who are waiting for or just had orthopaedic surgery, such as a hip, knee or shoulder replacement surgery.
Back when I worked as a Physio in the NHS (many years ago now!), we would see everyone who was scheduled to have surgery before their operation and provide support afterwards. This came in the form of education, advice, supervised exercise and rehabilitation. Sadly, this is more of a rarity and pre-hab and re-hab is often left to patients own devices, with little guidance.
The toolkit put together by Versus Arthritis helps to fill that gap, offering some great advice and exercise videos. Staying active is important if youโre waiting for or recovering from surgery. If youโre fit and strong, your surgery has the best chance of success, and youโll likely recover quicker. Over time, exercise can also increase your mobility, help your balance and boost your mood.
Here are 4 simple to follow videos that might help you if you are preparing for hip replacement, knee replacement or shoulder replacement surgery.
If you want more than some video advice, and feel you might need individual support and guidance if you’re waiting for joint replacement surgery or if you’ve had joint replacement surgery, we can help.
Through a range of services with our expert team, we can offer the tailor made support you need. If you’re not sure, just give us a call and have a chat.
