Sports Massage & Soft Tissue Therapy
COVID-19 Lockdown 3.0 UPDATE: From 26th December 2020 we are be able to continue soft tissue therapy treatment to address pain and injury. We are unable to offer routine, maintenance massage appointments at this time.
Sports massage and soft tissue therapy is an integral part of our service at goPhysio. It helps to reduces the aches and pains we all experience, whether through sport, an injury or the everyday stresses and strains of modern life.
Despite the term “sports massage”, you certainly don’t need to be a sports person to feel the benefits of this excellent all-round treatment. Rediscover your zest for life, as you lose stress, gain energy and improve your all-round quality of life!
What does massage involve?
Appointments generally last an hour, although there is an option to have a 30 minute massage if you only need treatment for a smaller, targeted area (such as your calf).
Our sports massage therapists here at goPhysio are trained to degree or masters level, so have an extensive and comprehensive understanding of the body, muscles, tissues and soft tissue treatment techniques. (They haven’t just done a few weekend courses in massage, so you can be reassured you’re in the best possible hands!).
How will a sports massage help me?
Each and every massage is different, our therapists can use a huge range of techniques and styles tailored to you and your prefrerences.

The best massage I have ever had and I have had them all over the world! The results were immediate. Neck pain and headache greatly relieved. Amazing improvement.
By far, the best sports massage I’ve ever had. Will be going back and would recommend to anyone.

How quickly can I get an appointment?
I’ve had NHS physio and it didn’t help, why should I try goPhysio?
Do I need to see my GP before booking to see a Physio?
Having to go to see your GP is a fairly traditional route. More often than not, for a mild to moderate musculoskeletal (MSK) injury, they’ll just advise you rest and take painkillers for 6 weeks anyway. To be referred to NHS physio, you’re likely to still need to see your GP first. However, there is even a move now in GP surgeries to have physiotherapists as the first point of contact for MSK injuries. Given that consultations for MSK conditions make up an estimated 30% of a GP’s caseload, having physiotherapist take over this role is great!
So, if you have a sprain, back pain, sports injury, neck problems, postural issues, muscular or ligament injury – anything affecting your muscles, bones, joints, you can come directly to see us. This saves you precious time and delays in your recovery so you can get back doing what you want to be doing.
Can I use private medical insurance to pay for my physiotherapy?
We will email you a receipt which includes your Physiotherapist’s HCPC number, which you can then provide to your individual insurance company. Depending on your individual policy, you may be able to reclaim some or all of your fees. Policies and cover varies widely now and we are unable to accept any responsibility for the amount you may be able to reclaim from your insurance company, so we advise that you check your cover prior to booking.
